AESOP AND OTHER STORIES

Giovanni Possenti (* 1971) lives and works in Lucca, Italy. His art comes from his childlike, endless imagination; an urge to explore the world for its most fantastical secrets, book by book, culture by culture, to then reveal them in detailed drawings that need to be seen over and over.

PHOTOGRAPHY
ICH SCHREIBE DIR SPÄTER

Tanya Traboulsi spent much of her childhood traveling between Austria and Lebanon. Many of her photos reflect this experience; more specifically, the personal issues of belonging and remembrance, as well as the contrasting sociological stigmas of female identity. Her first monograph, "Lost Strange Things: On Not Finding Home”, was published in 2014 by Triton.

This edition, presented for the first time at the CLB Berlin, connects Austria and Lebanon via 11 meters and 45 photos of her trips between these two countries.

OF HERO AND LEANDER

Jana Frank is an illustrator, author and blogger. Born in the former UDSSR, she has been living in Berlin since 1990. And with each new image and text, the reader experiences another personal detail. Her work on 11 meters titled "Of Hero and Leander" shows a graphic novel in a vertical rollbuch format. Year of publication 2017, illustrations © Jana Frank, Limited Edition Edition, approx. 11m x 168mm, made of poplar plywood; Price / delivery time on request

GRAPHIC NOVEL
L'ATTENTE

"For a graphic artist, the Rollbuch represents something sensual and pristine, – it feels like a bespoke home for images. It provides the potential to draw straight on, without having to think about a plot. The paper lay on the table, and whenever i had the time I added two or three characters to the queue. Eventually, I printed the four metre long drawing onto wood-pulp board, and after some tests one single colour, varying in density, proofed to be the most coherent colouration." (Yannik Lüdemann)

Year of publication: 2013
Illustrations © Yannik Lüdemann.
Rollbuch edition, approx. 6m x 168mm. 10 Ex.

CHILDREN`S BOOK
LUDWIG VAN LEERDAM

Florian is a freelance graphic designer, art director and illustrator. »Ludwig van Leerdam – Das Geheimnis von Störtebekers Schatz« is his first children's book. Year of publication: 2013
Text and illustrations © Florian Zietz.
Rollbuch edition, approx. 23m x 100mm.

LITERATURE
"VOR LAUTER STAUNEN"

"As an avowed fan of Rilke, I got inspired by his poem "Vor lauter Lauschen und Staunen sei still". I had the ambition to use the filmic aspect of the Rollbuch –  the small instant when the viewer is left unsure about what's going to happen next. I wanted to surprise. At the same time i attempted to limit myself to drawing, and to create an atmosphere of clarity and poetry that does justice to Rilke's lines. It was a long way to my 10 metres of Rilke – but well worth the patience." (Elke Ehninger)
